Do Others Want Your Light?

Posted By at Wednesday, May 16, 2018

We need to always remember that people around us are looking at our lives—would they want what we have?

Matt 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Although we do need to be culturally relevant to the lost, at the same time we must hold fast to the integrity of God's Word and not become like them.

Rom 12:2 NLT Don’t copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

We have been called to be a reflection of Jesus Christ and let His light shine. We must show Christ, not some religious organization, and not list rules and regulations that come from that religious experience.

Very often Christians tend to remain in the comfort of their church and familiar social circle of believers. As a result, they become totally isolated and separated from people who need salvation. Then they wonder why they never have the opportunity to lead someone to Jesus.

God has done a good work in each of us; He has opened our spiritual eyes, and we have been enlightened by His wonderful Word. We are challenged to let the world see the evidence of this enlightenment through our obedience to walk in the fruit of the Spirit as Galatians 5 tells us.

So what impact have you made on the people around you?

Have you added the life of Christ to any of them?

Learn to look for and take every opportunity - whether on the job, a social function, a family gathering, in a classroom, helping the needy, or wherever your day takes you - to let your light shine before men!

Your Financial Future

Posted By at Wednesday, May 09, 2018

Your financial future really depends on 3 things; what you SPEND, SAVE and SOW!

2 Cor 9:6-11 NLT Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. 9 As the Scriptures say, “They share freely and give generously to the poor. Their good deeds will be remembered forever.” 10 For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. 11 Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.

Your financial future starts with whatever you have RIGHT NOW, nothing is too small to be multiplied if it is sown and put into the hand of God.

God wants you to succeed financially.

Deut 8:18 And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.

Isaiah 48:17 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel, “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go.

Jesus taught that giving was the way to prosperity and plenty.

Luke 6:38 "Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."

He taught His disciples the way to fish so they could improve their fishing business in Luke 5.

He showed them how to find money in a fish to pay their taxes in Matthew 17.

He was always showing people where they could find the money they needed.

You have to believe that He is really interested in your finances. You can't take money to heaven, but you can use it to send people to heaven.

Of the 38 parables in the New Testament, 16 of them deal with the right and wrong use of money. One out of every 10 verses in the Bible speaks on the issue of finance. There are 500 verses on prayer and 500 verses on faith, but over 2000 verses on finance and its correct use.

Prosperity from God’s point of view is multifarious. He includes in it prosperity for spirit, soul and body, in relationships as well as financially!

You can change it!

Posted By at Wednesday, May 02, 2018

William James (January 11, 1842 – August 26, 1910) was an American philosopher and psychologist and the first educator to offer a psychology course in the United States. James was one of the leading thinkers of the late nineteenth century and is believed by many to be one of the most influential philosophers the United States ever produced. His views were not necessarily as we see God's Word today, but there were Biblical truths in what he had to say.

He said, "The greatest discovery of our generation is that we can alter our lives by altering our attitudes."

Consider that for a moment; its your thinking and your thoughts, not your circumstances that determines your happiness.

That is exactly what God's Word says.

Proverbs 23:7a KJV For as he thinks in his heart so is he.

Ephesians 4:23 NLT There must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and attitudes.

So we can change if we want to. If you really want to change for the better, let me give you some suggestions to follow:

1. What do you really want?

When you are popular and others like you, it makes you feel good about yourself. If you're successful you create joy within yourself. That means happiness is an inside job.

2. Plan your days in prayer!

To achieve God's goals for your life you must plan with prayer. Here is something I wrote in my prayer manual; Prayer and preparation precede the pouring out of God's power! [Prayer manual EFFECTIVE PRAYER is available for $30 from this ministry post free].

Proverbs 16:9 Living Bible "We should make plans counting on God to direct us!"

3. Don't expect others to make you happy and successful.

God gave you the Word to study and He calls it seed, so start planting it and watch it grow.

Galatians 6:4-5 Message Bible Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.

Why not try these suggestions today and look to God for other things to improve your day. If you ask Him, He will soon show you what you need to do, you can change it if you really want to.

FAITH + HOPE + LOVE

Posted By at Wednesday, April 25, 2018

1 Corinthians 13:13 "And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these [is] love."

Faith, hope and love [that is God's kind of love agape love] are all Godly attributes.

Satan possesses none of these and he hates everyone who does possess them.

I wonder as we go through this year of 2018 are these the qualities we possess?

God is the God of faith, the God of all hope, and God is love. These are His characteristics.

Those who genuinely possess these qualities are God possessed, for these only come from and through the Lord Himself.

Galatians 5:6 “Faith works by love.”

Yet many Christians who profess faith certainly do not exude this love. They often act like they have no love. How can this be?

Many people in today's society lack these Godly qualities, but they have existed since before God breathed His life into man and they will be here as long as He continues to live in men's hearts. They abide regardless of political systems.

Men, however, under the direction of the devil, have tried to eradicate them, but their efforts have fallen short and always will.

* Love never fails according to 1 Cor 13:8.

* Faith overcomes the world according to 1 John 5:4.

* Hope we are saved by it according to Romans 8:24.

These are the qualities that give our lives meaning and great enjoyment.

These characteristics distinguish men from animals. Remove them and people begin to act like wild animals.

However, if we inject faith, hope, and love even into the vilest heart it can be melted and reshaped in the image of God. Living without faith, hope and love diminishes the quality of life.

Satan seeks to strip men and women of these three God-like qualities while God never wants us to be without them. There is constant warfare between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness over these three special virtues.

Today, let God fill you with His faith, His hope and His love and then be a channel through which He can release these virtues to those who need faith, those who need hope, and those who are starving for true 'agape' love.

Your Faith Will Get God's Attention

Posted By at Wednesday, April 18, 2018

Luke 8:43-48 A woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. "Who touched me?" Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, "Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you." But Jesus said, "Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me." Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and…told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."

I want you to notice three important things in this story:

1. She did something she’d never done before.

She decided to try Jesus. That's always a wise move! Faith means stepping into the unknown and the untried, finding God’s grace at work in unexpected ways. Deciding to trust God irrespective of the circumstances.

2. She recognized her moment.

She knew that Jesus was visiting her town and might not come back. There are God-moments in life when you’ve got to overcome your fear and move out in faith. If you don’t, you’ll miss them. Sometimes you just need to make the move and not be moved by what others might think.

3. She opened the door for others.

Up until this time no one in Scripture had been healed by touching Jesus’ garment. So her act of faith opened the door for others.

Matt 14:35-36 People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.

God is looking for people who are willing to break with their traditions and to get away from religion. When He finds them, He uses them to open doors and new dimensions of His power, so that others too might be blessed and made whole.

Paid in Full

Posted By at Wednesday, April 11, 2018

At a Good Friday service I was sharing on the last words Jesus spoke on the cross, some of them in John 19:30 were, "It is finished."

I pointed out that in the Greek language of the New Testament, it was one word 'tetelestai' and that it was a banking and accounting term of the day, which translated out as PAID IN FULL

When Jesus uttered those words He was declaring the debt owed to His Father was wiped away completely and forever. Not that Jesus wiped away any debt He had to pay, because He was sinless but rather, Jesus eliminated the debt owed by us all — the debt of our sin.

We owed a debt we could not pay, and He paid a debt He did not owe, and we are now free from the penalty of it.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

I read recently that when the accounting books of a certain Scottish doctor were examined after his death, it was found that a number of the accounts were crossed through with a note, 'Forgiven too poor to pay'.

However, the physician's wife later decided that these accounts should be paid in full and she proceeded to sue the clients for the money.

When the case came to court, the judge asked only one question. "Is this your husband's handwriting?"

When she replied that it was, the judge responded, "There is no court in the land that can obtain a debt once the word forgiven has been written on it."

One of the problems common to many people, if not most of us, is that we find it very difficult to forgive someone who we feel has hurt us deeply, especially family members. But you know having an attitude of unforgiveness just locks us into that situation of judging that other person.

Jesus said in Luke 6:37 “Judge not and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven."

The Good News is that when we confess our sins to God and ask for His forgiveness, He forgives us totally and absolutely. He does this not because He ignores the just penalty for our sins, but because He sent Jesus to pay that penalty for us. In His everlasting love for us that He gave His Son, Jesus, to pay that cruel penalty for us through His death on the cross. It was His love for you and me that held Him on the cross, not the nails that penetrated His wrists and ankles.

If we have confessed our sins to God and asked for his forgiveness, we need to accept his forgiveness by faith—regardless of how we feel, and make sure we also forgive others.

Empowered to Prosper

Posted By at Wednesday, April 04, 2018

God's intent is not only to make us a member of His Kingdom and to make a great nation out of the family of God, but it's also God's intention to empower us to prosper. It's His will for us to prosper.

Gen 12:2 "And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great: and thou shalt be a blessing."

God said to Abraham, "I'll make your name great, and you shall be a blessing." In other words, God said, "not only will I empower you to prosper, but you'll be so blessed that you'll be able to empower others to prosper."

Deuteronomy 28 not only lists the blessings for obedience in verses 1-14, it also lists the curses that come upon the disobedient.

Galatians 3 says Christ came to redeem you from the curse.

Thank God, we have been redeemed from the curse, but we have not been redeemed from the blessings!

After reading what the blessings are, it is very easy to see that the will of God is to empower us to prosper. God wants to empower us to prosper.

So we know that the blessing began before the Law and continued through the Law. The Word of God tells us that we have a better covenant, established upon better promises in Hebrews 8:6, Jesus is the surety of the new covenant with its better blessings.

Jesus did a miraculous thing in His life. He was born in the earth. Then He died and defeated the devil for you. He brought in a new and better covenant for His people! Three days later He was raised from the dead. He put you in His will and then came back from the dead to make sure you got all that was named for you in the better covenant. In other words, Jesus made sure that the blessings of the old covenant, or Old Testament, are maintained in your life. The curses were done away with. The blessings are yours to keep along with the blessings of the new and better covenant. It is God's will that you be empowered to prosper, and to seal this deal, He gave you Jesus as a guarantee that you would get and maintain all that the Old Testament promised and much more in the new. He has empowered you to prosper.

Develop a Hunger For God

Posted By at Wednesday, March 28, 2018

If you're dissatisfied inside and feel a little dried up spiritually; I can help you with this life changing and challenging news today.

1 Cor 15:1 Amplified Bible And now let me remind you [since it seems to have escaped you], brethren, of the Gospel (the glad tidings of salvation) which I proclaimed to you, which you welcomed and accepted and upon which your faith rests.

Paul the Apostle is writing to born again, spirit-filled church people and he said that he needed to remind them about some things.

Oftentimes we hear things but they don't make an impact on us and so we need to hear them again and sometimes more than once, that’s why I repeat things over again often in my teaching.

Paul tells them to hold on to what they have learned and remind themselves of it often. He said in Romans 10:17 Faith comes by hearing and hearing by The Word of God.

We should hunger and thirst after righteousness because Jesus said in Matthew 5:6 Message Bible "You're blessed when you've worked up a good appetite for God."

God will respond to your hunger and thirst for His Word and Jesus said when we hunger and thirst we will be filled.

Don't wait for God to move, you make a start today and make your move towards God. When you demonstrate to Him you are hungry for His Word and His presence, then He will move and bring you all you need to be blessed with and for you to be a blessing to others. You will see His glory and power and you will be blessed beyond measure; He wants to bless you with overflow.

Don't wait any longer, get busy and desire His move in your life; get hungry and thirsty today, and you will be filled!

Just Stay Calm

Posted By at Wednesday, March 21, 2018

Proverbs 17:27 He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.

It is dangerous to let your mind become so agitated that you can't consider your actions carefully. Having a calm mind is a great asset in this life. Without it your devotional life will not bear much fruit. If your heart is troubled, you are vulnerable to the enemy of the soul. When you're agitated, you are not able to make good decisions. You will stumble into the devil’s snares.

Our old adversary the devil specializes in confusion. He loves to prey upon minds that are torn and upset by multiple worries, and often has his greatest success in tempting us when we're so beset by cares that we act on impulse, failing to consider the consequences of our actions.

Note that Solomon observed, in the verse above, that a man of understanding is of a calm spirit.

But how can we have a calm spirit when many stressful things come at us at once, all of which seem to have to be considered? There surely can be no question that this is one of life's most difficult challenges and there are no easy answers. Like most difficult things, however, cultivating a calm mind is a matter of training.

Our brains may have a more complicated connection to our spirits than the other parts of the body, but the brain is still a part of the body and as such, it has to be trained to serve, rather than hinder the spirit man.

Naturally unruly, and seemingly with a will of its own, the mind has to be put in its place, disciplined and taught to help us get to heaven.

Training our minds to be calm is like every other kind of training in that it has to be done in small steps. It's a matter of incremental growth over time.

What we must do is put ourselves on a deliberate regimen of training as we exercise our minds each and every day. We find some little thing we can do today to help calm our minds, and that victory encourages us to do the same tomorrow.

At the very least, we need to consciously value a calm spirit. We need to pursue it and when we find ourselves without it, we need to be wise enough to see the danger we're in, and make Godly efforts to recover our calmness as soon as possible. If we can't always be calm, we can certainly grow in that direction.

Today, like every day, there are steps we can take that will lead to a mind that's more peaceful -- and more careful.

What is that step?

Paul, in Romans 12:2 tells us what to do. "Don't copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is!"

Don't Let Fear Hold You Back!

Posted By at Wednesday, March 14, 2018

Is fear of failure holding you back and keeping you from doing things you want to do? Then it’s time to break through the fear barrier!

Fear starts in our thoughts. To overcome fear, we need to change the way we look at things, and change the way we think about them. Fear is rarely a reflection of our current reality; it's usually a result of anticipating negative future events. Fears have a way of mushrooming when we keep thinking about them; they seem bigger than they really are. When we stop feeding fearful thoughts, they lose their power.

The thing you fear the most is often the one thing that's standing in the way of what you really want. So don't let fear rule your life.

Let me tell you first up what fear really is: F. E. A. R. It is False Evidence Appearing Real!

2 Cor 10:5 "Cast down imaginations, and bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ."

I'm sure you've probably heard the phrase, 'feel the fear and do it anyway'; it's possible to feel fear, but yet move past it and go for what you want regardless. You can learn to say no to fear.

In the past when I first started out in ministry, I'd let fear hold me back from doing many things that I really wanted to do. I eventually decided that it was time to do something about it. I didn't want to get to the end of my life and be full of regret for all the things I hadn't done. I decided it was time to face my fears and push past them. Then, I started to ask myself, "What's the worse thing that could happen if I did ...?" "Would that really be so bad?"

I began to realize that I'd been letting insignificant thoughts and fear stop me from stepping out of my comfort zone. I had a choice. I could carry on being afraid and let those fears stop me from doing things, or I could face the fears and go ahead and do things in spite of feeling afraid. I decided that I wasn't going to let fear of failure stop me any longer, so I pushed through and thousands of people have been helped as a result.

Eleanor Roosevelt said, "You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do."

So today I encourage you to press on and do what needs to be done, if necessary, do it trembling. There is no magic solution. The key is to recognise the fear for what it really is, and refuse to let it hold you back from your dreams. The antidote to all fear is faith.

Your plan may never be that perfect, but make adjustments as you discover what works for you and what doesn't. When you start taking action the fear will begin to lose its power. Keep focused on your plan and take some action every day.

Franklin D Roosevelt said, "Let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear … is fear itself."

Mark Twain said, "Do the thing you fear most and the death of fear is certain."

Fears may try to resurface from time to time; they have a habit of creeping up on you when you're not expecting them. Just tell them that you're not going to listen to them, take a deep breath, reach out to God and dare to live life the way you want to live it. You have better things to do than to live in fear.

Romans 8:37-39 37 "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

When we step out of our comfort zone and start to do things that we've been afraid of doing, we soon begin to discover that the fear was really an empty bluff and there really wasn't anything to be afraid of. Things are rarely as bad as we think. So don't let fear rob you of your dreams. Do something towards overcoming those fears every day. Keep pushing through and silence your fears forever.

I read somewhere that God has put 365 'FEAR NOTS' in His Word; so that's one for every day of the year.

Lena Kellogg Sadler said, "The only known cure for fear is faith."
